Today is my first day back to daily writing after taking a break for the entire month of June from writing. I wrote if I wanted to write but didn’t force myself to write. That lead to three days of writing just because I wanted to with 7,369 words total written for the month. My biggest writing day was on the 2nd of June. I had been counting down the day that I was able to stop writing and then had all these ideas that I just needed to write down, so I wrote them down. Then on the 3rd of June I wanted to keep writing, and it was hard not to write. I was hard not the write for the entire first week. After that it became easier. I needed the break because I could feel myself getting close to burn out after one year and five months of writing every weekday. I enjoyed that break and part of me doesn’t want to go back to daily writing. On the day that I said that I would go back to daily writing, I went back to writing.
I had planned to go back to writing on one of my originals, instead I ended up working on the fanfiction that had been my focus story since July last year which I hit 450,000 words today on that project and it still doesn’t feel like it is anywhere close to being done. I just want to put that project into the completed pile and not have to think about it anymore, but it’s still not at that point. Late in the afternoon, I did manage to work on my other project. I worked on is a pirate story I started in 2018 done in the style of the old Choose Your Own Adventure stories. I aim to have that finished by the end of the year but to get that done I need to start working on that story again, something that I have struggled to do. I hope that it’s not just a one day thing of working on that story and that I will work on that story for the rest of the month as well.
Part of me would like to still be taking a writing break because I enjoyed sleeping after work, reading, gaming and just watching a show. The other part of me is glad to be back writing the fictional worlds that I daydream about frequently.
